MSPs' Home Visits

Towards the end of last year, our CEO Mags McCarthy, wrote to the MSPs in areas CCS provide care at home services, inviting them to accompany one of our support workers on a home visit to a service user. She wanted to highlight the challenges we face in the care sector and why we need the Scottish Government to take action to avoid the current crisis worsening.

As one of Scotland’s longest serving care providers and a not for profit charity, CCS offers a clear insight to the sector and in particular, the care contracts delivered through local authorities.

Mags' invitation was accepted by Marie McGougan (Angus North and Mearns); Oliver Mundell (Dumfriesshire); Richard Lochhead (Moray); and Maree Todd (Caithness, Sutherland and Ross) who is currently The Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport.

Mags or another senior member of staff attended every visit.

Following the visits CEO, Mags McCarthy said: "All of the visits were positive but it was particularly valuable to give feedback to Maree Todd, who is in the strongest position to influence policy as it falls within her Ministerial remit. I was glad to say that our service users did not hold back on expressing their opinions as I think it's particularly important for politicians to hear from their constituents personal experience."
